The OE axle seal in the 4T40E & 4T45E is prone to failure. This appears to be due to a
designing flaw of the OE seals. The tin seal sleeve that GM uses in their design will offen slip,
spin or chock on the shaft... causing the axle to leak.

The axle kit provides not only a new axle seal, to stop the leak, but also a bearing and sleeve
designed to support and stabilize the axle's movement in the transmission case.
